Bruce Peat trained as a plastic surgeon in New Zealand before spending five years in postgraduate training overseas – in hand surgery in the USA, microsurgery in Canada and reconstructive plastic surgery in England, including a period as Assistant Professor of Plastic Surgery in the US.
Bruce returned to Auckland in 1994 as a consultant plastic surgeon at Middlemore Hospital, where he went on to become Head of the Plastic Surgery Department and remains one of its senior surgeons. He is an Examiner in Plastic Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and has published widely in leading plastic surgery journals.
